Last year Friends of the Earth groups throughout the UK were invited to participate in a unique ‘citizen scientist’ project to monitor nitrogen oxides in their districts. The results have now been published in PDF format by Friends of the Earth which you can Download Here.
Several Hampshire towns and cities took part. Although Havant FoE obtained the Friends of the Earth Clean Air Kit we never deployed it, but we have another opportunity to discuss the local situation at the next group meeting. We have also discussed with Havant Borough Council the publication on the council’s website of the data collected through it’s own local monitoring facilities. This has become a top priority issue for environmentalists everywhere.
