Warmer Homes Campaign

Friends of the Earth are calling on us to set up local campaigning hubs, bringing communities together to help support one another with the impacts of soaring energy costs and demand the right to a warm home.

Their new campaign United for Warmer Homes shows that the solutions to the energy crisis already exist.

United for Warm Homes is calling for:

  • Urgent additional financial support to keep people warm
We need more targeted support to keep people warm and well
  • A nationwide insulation programme
Upgrading homes with insulation is the cheapest and easiest way to permanently reduce our bills
  • Permanent fixes to our failed energy system
By powering our homes with cheap and clean renewables and guaranteeing everyone the energy they need to live comfortably, we can ensure no one is left in the cold

The idea of this campaign is that by linking these campaigns up across the country, we can build a national movement that’s too powerful to ignore.

Together we can win the fight for warm homes that don’t cost the earth.

Join Havant Climate Alliance on Wednesday 12th October at 7pm on Zoom to discuss these ideas more and to think about groups which might get involved locally.

COP 27

The vital talks on meeting climate targets will be taking place in Egypt in November and there is a serious danger that the UK will backtrack on pledges made last year. Poorer countries which have of course done least to cause the climate crisis are suffering the worst effects and are demanding loss and damage finance.

The Climate Justice Coalition is calling for large numbers to take to the streets demanding action on climate on 12th November and a rally is being planned in Portsmouth. More local details soon but see https://climatejustice.uk/cop27/
