The Network of Climate Emergency Centres have produced a series of webinars, some of which are lectures by the same experts.

Protect Our Wildlife

Did you know the UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world? There’s less wildlife today than in living memory? and it’s still disappearing before our eyes. From hedgehogs to butterflies, the species we love are vanishing as habitats are destroyed.

We know how to bring nature back. But instead of taking action, the government’s letting nature decline – weakening protections, missing targets and blaming bats and newts for holding back growth. All while giving developers the green light to destroy more of our natural world.

When nature is lost, we all pay the price. It means dirtier air, polluted water and greater flood risk for our communities. If we don’t act now, we risk losing even more wildlife within our lifetime. We all deserve a future where nature can thrive.

A survey on Cycling to complete

The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust has put together a survey for Havant Borough Council. The answers will inform and shape activities and sessions delivered in the borough in 2026 and 2027.

It’s quite quick – there are 19 multiple choice questions that should take around 5 minutes to complete Havant Community Engagement Survey 2026

Record breaking temperatures

If the record heatwave across Europe was not enough of a wake-up call, on Wednesday the Climate Change Committee published its latest progress report

It’s warning that “The UK Government is not moving fast enough to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and to protect households and businesses from volatile fossil fuel prices.”

The report also warns  that current plans are insufficient to meet our international commitment on climate, with long-term plans containing a high level of risk of falling short.

National Adaptation Plan

The UK experienced record temperatures last week (and in late May), with the Climate Change Committee report predicting that heat deaths could rise to 10,000 people annually by 2050.

Friends of the Earth is calling for urgent adaptations for hospitals, schools and care homes as well as for a transition away from fossil fuels to green power.

The Seventh Carbon Budget

The House of Commons has just agreed the Seventh Carbon Budget, setting a legal requirement for the UK government to reduce emissions by 87% by 2038–2042, including shipping and aviation. A target that the UK, on its current pathway, would miss.

Zero Hour have produced A Breakdown of the 2026 Climate Change Committee’s Emissions Report, which shows how much electrification would save.

Challenging the Far Right

The May local elections saw an intake of councillors aligned to far right politics, which is leading to attacks on policies that we support, including net zero, climate declarations and air pollution reduction.

We’ve also seen concerning attacks on Pride initiatives, Cities of Sanctuary and Black History Month. Friends of the Earth has a range of materials and support for groups to help navigate this.

Carbon Literacy Training

Havant Borough Council is offering free Carbon Literacy Training to external stakeholders and community partners. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical knowledge about carbon literacy and earn formal accreditation.

Limited spaces are available to stakeholders wanting to make a start on their carbon reduction journey. Email ClimateSIG@havant.gov.uk to secure your spot.

Petersfield Eco-fair

Petersfield’s biennial Eco Fair returns to Petersfield Heath on Sunday 12th July 10am–4pm.

This free community event is open for everyone to come along and discover simple ways to live more sustainably.

It will be a joyful celebration of earth-friendly living, with family activities including performance and face-painting, as well as live music, delicious refreshments, sustainable products and fascinating.

In Conversation…The Climate Crisis

Join Chichester Festival Theatre on Tuesday 28th July 5pm for a panel discussion exploring where we currently stand in the climate crisis, and considering the role and responsibility of art and culture in responding to it.

The panel features director Daniel Bailey, Lord Nicholas Stern, and climate justice campaigner Tori Tsui.

Eco Arts Fest

Havant Community Energy are organising an ‘ECO ARTS FEST’ which will take place at various venues in Havant Town Centre from the 18th to the 20th September 2026.

The ECO ARTS FEST has been put together for the Havant Community to be able to enjoy some festival fun whilst learn about important issues around climate change. The weekend programme will include live music, speakers, artists/makers, light show and experts who can help you make your home more energy efficient and save you money.
